Since 2013, Men’s Ministry has structured its service component into a season of service, the period of April and May. During these season around a half-dozen events are established where men may put their faith in action in service to God and the community.
Service events often take the form of Men’s Ministry committing to provide sufficient volunteers to run an existing ministry at St. James, allowing the faithful regular volunteers a brief respite, but also include serving the greater Ranchlands community.
Past events have included volunteering at Inn from the Cold, sandwich making for the Bag Lunch ministry, volunteering with the Good Food Box programme, singing hymns at a retirement home, garbage pickup in the public park behind St. James and a spring cleanup of the St. James grounds as well.
All Season of Service events for the two-month period are scheduled and announced at the end of March to allow for individuals to plan for which events they would like participate in well in advance of the actual event, and the first details of the Season of Service are traditionally announced at the Men's Retreat, and subsequent Sundays in late March.
