“Lord, Teach us to pray…”

You are invited to a prayer retreat open to all members of St. James. We will be meeting at the beautiful Sanctum Retreat Centre near Caroline, Alberta on the evening of Friday the 14th of November and all day Saturday the 15th of November.

Our intention is to help the people of St. James to grow in the art and discipline of prayer and that the people might be encouraged in both personal and corporate prayer. The retreat will do this by having a number of our own people talk to us about their experience of prayer. Each speaker has been asked to focus on a particular aspect of their experience. How they began. How they grew. What they have done and what they do now. All of this will be presented in the context that God has been their teacher and guide.

Friday night will provide for a time of prayer and preparation for the weekend and is an integral portion of the retreat. It allows participants to set themselves apart from the world and prepare their hearts and minds for the day’s agenda on Saturday.

Saturday will feature time for corporate worship, teaching, practice of prayer, as well as time for private meditation and prayer. Breakfast, lunch and supper will be served on Saturday and the day will conclude with a celebration of the Eucharist.

If you are interested in learning more about, or becoming more involved in, the corporate prayer life at St. James or growing in your own personal prayer life, please pray for discernment over whether or not this is an opportunity which would be right for you!

For additional details regarding the retreat, please view the attached Information Sheet via the link below. The Registration Form can also be downloaded so that you can fill it out and bring it in to the church. The deadline for registration is Sunday, October 26th.
