making faithful disciples for Jesus Christ

Discipleship & Equipping

Discipleship in our context means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. The following activities highlight specific opportunities to learn and to develop a better understanding of our faith and how we can grow in our relationship with Jesus.

Alpha

Alpha Course

The Alpha course addresses some of the basics of our faith and helps us to gain a better understanding of what relevance Jesus has for our lives.

"Alpha brings people together and helps them discover a presence which unites them. Experiencing Alpha gives the desire not only to live but also to share the Good News of the Living Christ. It is a path of reconciliation and a reason to hope for Christian unity." - Cardinal Marc Quellet, Archbishop of Quebec.

This course, over a 10-week period, explores significant questions of life through a series of video presentations followed by small group discussion (where all questions are welcome).

Boundaries

This course is based on the book "Boundaries" and accompanying videos by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend. The course covers the importance of having clear personal boundaries in all our relationships as an essential step to a healthy, balanced lifestyle. Come and join us and explore this topic.

Marriage Course

Marriage Course

The Marriage Course is very practical, giving married couples the tools to build strong marriages that will last a lifetime. The course consists of seven sessions over a ten week period. Couples spend time together talking about the important issues that can get swept under the carpet in the rush of daily life. The course material was developed by the same organization that developed the Alpha course, an opportunity to explore the meaning of life.

Marriage Preparation Course

This course is offered as part of marriage preparation and will help couples to develop strong foundations for a lasting marriage. The course includes five sessions and deals with important topics such as: the importance of commitment, how to recognize and appreciate your differences, art of communication, resolving conflict, nurturing your friendship, and helping each other feel loved. The timing of the course is coordinated with the engaged couple or couples when they meet with the clergy.

Confirmation

Confirmation classes are offered to senior high students, both as preparation for confirmation and as an opportunity to develop the ability to defend the faith of one's baptism. Special classes are organized for Adults on a need basis.

Baptism

Baptism classes are held one evening generally the week prior to the Baptism service. The clergy generally interviews parents of children baptismal candidates and adult candidates at the time they express a desire to be baptized.
